About the Team:
As the Life Science & Technology Learning Director, you will be a key strategic partner in helping us shape and implement Medidata's global learning and development initiatives. You will report directly to the Vice President, Global Talent Management. Your focus will be on designing, implementing, and continuously improving life science & technology training programs that support Medidata's mission, enhance employee capabilities, and align with organizational goals. You will work with teams across the company to ensure that our employees receive the right education, skills, and knowledge to excel in their roles.
You will lead the charge in developing a comprehensive, data-driven strategy that integrates enterprise training, compliance education, upskilling, and role-based learning programs for the complete employee lifecycle. Your leadership will help drive initiatives that promote industry knowledge, product proficiency, and technical expertise, while managing the mandatory training programs that ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. You will also help measure the success and effect of these initiatives through clear, relevant metrics and reporting.
Strategic Leadership & Program Design:
Oversee the creation and delivery of role-specific training programs focused on technical skills, compliance, product knowledge, and industry education.Guide the integration of Medidata product training with broader industry training initiatives to provide a seamless learning journey.Collaborate with senior leadership and functional teams to ensure training programs align with business priorities and goals.Program Optimization & Impact Measurement:
Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of training programs, ensuring they are engaging, impactful, and aligned with business needs.Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of training programs and report on outcomes to senior leadership.Use data-driven insights to continuously refine and enhance learning content, ensuring measurable business outcomes.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment and to reduce redundancies in training efforts.Develop and manage relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create high-quality, relevant training content.Lead cross-functional teams in the development of training initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and understanding of organizational objectives.
Global Training Program Management:
Oversee the global roll-out of training programs, ensuring scalability and consistency across regions.Manage the mandatory and compliance training programs, including annual updates, and tracking of compliance metrics.Develop and execute communication plans for training program launches and updates.Vendor & Resource Management:
Manage external vendor relationships, including negotiating contracts, overseeing content development, and ensuring alignment with budget and quality standards.Identify opportunities to use external resources to complement internal capabilities and expertly integrate them into existing or new training programs.Oversee the content management and development processes as it relates to all internal content, including oversight of Medidata's LMS.Innovation & Modernization:
Drive the modernization of learning and development practices, transforming traditional training methods into engaging, scalable, and impactful experiences.Explore latest trends and technologies in corporate learning to continuously enhance the training ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 years (according to Radford) of relevant experience in learning and development or corporate training, with a proven track record in managing complex, global programs.
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree is a plus) or equivalent professional experience.Experience in the life sciences industries
- Previous experience overseeing cross-functional projects.
The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $114,750 - $153,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
