Our approach
The future calls for sustainability. Our purpose is using virtual universes to harmonize product, nature and life.
About "The Only Progress is Human"
Our craft is innovation. For over four decades, we have been developing software solutions that enable our clients to better innovate themselves, all across the economy.
Today, we support more than 290,000 customers and 25 million users in 140 countries. We operate across 11 industries at different levels, working with individuals, start-ups, industry leaders and public institutions.
Through our software and digital solutions, including the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, we empower companies and individuals to create pioneering and sustainable products and services.
How?
By harnessing virtual experiences to model the social and environmental impacts of every innovation at the design stage.
Our purpose is to “harmonize product, nature and life”. This can only happen when we put people at the heart of innovation.
This means harnessing the power of imagination to understand human needs. Based on this understanding, we can develop services and products that improve the lives of other people and their communities.
It also means understanding a crucial human need: to harmonize the way we live with the environment and the natural ressources that support us.
By designing around human and real-world experiences, we can empower people and, together, create solutions for a better future. This why we believe the only progress is human.

How can virtual worlds change the way we experience emotions?
Art in all its forms has a transformative effect on human beings, stimulating a range of emotional responses and creating unexpected new connections.
With this challenge, Dassault Systèmes has created a unique experience, VIRTUAL HARMONY, combining visual art and virtual worlds to evoke powerful new emotional experiences.
How can we consume smarter and protect our most precious resource?
Water is the source of life. It intrigues and fascinates us. Yet, this inestimable treasure is being polluted by the way we consume.
With this challenge, Dassault Systèmes is committing, with the act WATER FOR LIFE, to measuring and optimizing the water footprint of businesses, supporting the growth of sustainability-focused start-ups, and educating future generations about this key resource.
How can understanding the past help us better navigate the future?
We walk, we stumble, we learn, and we go further. The arc of human progress is drawn not only by the inventions and innovations that we are able to conceive, but also by the lessons that our shared history teaches us.
Virtual worlds offer us powerful tools to do both: gain a greater understanding of our past, and make the visionary models and real-world changes that will result in a better future for generations to come
How can sustainable cities thrive as urbanization increases?
Our world is more urban than ever. Today, over half the world’s population lives in urban areas, and this trend is expected to continue in the decades ahead.
Cities have brought about great opportunities for prosperity and a better quality of life, but the transformations in the way we live have also ushered in pressing challenges. As urbanization continues, it is more vital than ever to leverage the collective intelligence of citizens, businesses and governments to make cities people-friendly and sustainable.
New solutions can help us move closer to this goal. Virtual twin experiences of cities enable us to model, simulate, visualize and experiment with entire cities to make realworld improvements, helping us care for the vibrant, cultural epicenters that billions are happy to call home.
How can we create preventive healthcare tailored to each patient?
Hippocrates, the father of medicine, dreamed of personalized treatments that would be ideally suited to each patient. Two thousand years later, his dream is becoming reality thanks to virtual twins of the human body.
These virtual duplicates enable scientists and healthcare experts to model and test treatments and medication in the virtual realm, resulting in safer, more personalized patient experiences.
How can we reduce our footprint as we move through the world?
Our world is increasingly interconnected. Supply chains span continents. Economic growth across Asia and Africa continues to increase the mobility aspirations of millions.
But swift changes in mobility make it all the more pressing to develop sustainable solutions for the movement of people and goods. The virtual world offers groundbreaking insights. Modeling and virtual-experience technology allows us to design safer and greener mobility systems.
How can we create an energy-positive world?
As a planet, we are on course to increase our energy consumption at least 50% by 2030. Much of this massive growth is taking place in remote areas never before served by electricity. Traditional sources for power are becoming scarcer, while the need for sustainable solutions is increasing.
Just like in nature, energy solutions require balance: juxtaposed against concerns about climate change and quality of life is the push to find the right mix between existing and emerging energy sources.
Thanks to the virtual world, we have the power to do all this and more
How can we learn from Nature to innovate sustainability?
The ressources that nature offers us go beyond raw materials and energy sources. For as long as we have been able to contemplate it, nature has been our teacher.
As our way of life continues to have a lasting impact on the environment, many of the challenges we face can find invaluable lessons in the natural ecosystems and rich lifeforms that surround us. Using virtual experiences, we can apply these lessons to design and develop solutions for a more sustainable future.
The United Nations SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are the worldwide guidelines to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, focusing on the end of poverty, improving health and education, reducing inequality, spurring economic growth, tackling climate change and preserving oceans and forests. These goals drive long-term regulations by governments, investments by the financial community, human resources incentives, and business value initiatives to instill positive change, reduce resource consumption, and reach net-zero carbon emissions.
Dassault Systèmes is committed to achieve these goals not only by making changes to ourselves but enabling the change with our customers and partners. Through the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, we are accelerating sustainable innovation by nurturing innovative start-ups whose objectives are to make positive impact to the environment, society and economy.
Living Heart Project
The Living Heart Project aims to provide personalized patient care by advancing the development of safe and effective cardiovascular products and treatments.
EEL Energy
EEL Energy is developing an undulating membrane inspired by bio-mimicry - the motion made by fish swimming – to generate electricity from marine or river currents.
AgreenCulture
AgreenCulture’s mission is to design a relevant solution for transforming costly farming ecology into affordable alternatives. Robotics offers a relevant solution to meet this goal.
