Shaping talents for tomorrow

Thanks to our 300,000 customers and 25 million users across 12 industries worldwide, and relying on 40 years of partnership with academic institutions, we use our expertise to prepare the workforce of the future to new and evolving jobs, and bridge the skills gap that limits many industries today in their quest for innovation.

Today, the market acknowledges the need for more consistency between the skills taught by academic institutions and the ones needed by the industry.

The Skills Gap Challenge

Bridging the skills shortage is every day more critical.

According to the PwC’s 2022 Global Workforce Survey, Upskilling Employees represents the first measure taken by employers to address skill shortage

According to the 2020 Survey for Skills Gaps by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), almost 1/5 of recent graduates said their college education 'did not provide the skills necessary for their first job'

In a McKinsey Global Survey on future workforce needs, 87% of companies say they either are experiencing skills gaps already, or expect gaps within the next years

How can developing relationships between industry and academia bridge the skills gap

Skill Gap Whitepaper > Dassault Systèmes

Research suggests that many graduates across the world are not ‘workplace ready’.

This is fundamentally true! Technologies are reshaping the world of work, while social and environmental issues are bringing new, increasingly complex challenges to the table. The jobs we used to know are transforming at the speed of light, and new jobs requiring new skills are emerging

As a result, developing relationships between industry and academia has never been more critical – to both foster employability and bridge the skills gap.

Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE Edu has published a joint whitepaper in collaboration with a committee of industrial and academic stakeholders to establish the future skills needed in the workplace to best prepare graduates and employees, and demonstrate how industry-academia relationships are critical to closing the skills gap.

The value of closing the skill gap is to increase the confidence in a win-win approach: Industries can provide recommendation, via steering board for example, or fund some research projects that will in return provide benefits. Academics have more resources to train the next generation of students and to investigate new scientific and industrial issues.
