Program
BIOVIA Notebook 2024, 2023 SP1 and 2023 SP1 HF1
Operating System
Microsoft Windows Server (64 bit) 2016, 2019 and 2022.
Background
An issue where the ElnDirectorySyncService may erroneously deactivate or delete Notebook users after an error occurs while retrieving data from an Active Directory (AD), has been identified and resolved.
This defect in error handling in the ElnDirectorySyncService means that if an error is encountered while loading data from the Active Directory, the synchronization to Notebook may still proceed even though an incomplete data set was loaded from the Active Directory.
Workaround
BIOVIA recommends that hotfix release 2023 SP1 HF2 shall be applied to every installation of Notebook 2023 SP1 or 2023 SP1 HF1.
BIOVIA recommends that hotfix release 2024 HF1 shall be applied to every installation of Notebook 2024.
This is to mitigate the risk for Notebook users being erroneously deactivated or deleted.
The problem is also resolved in Notebook 2024 SP1 and later. Therefore, it is also recommended that Notebook installations prior to 2023 SP1 should be upgraded to the latest release.
Note that when synchronizing users only from Foundation Hub and not from Active Directory, the hotfixes are not relevant.
