Timmerman Yachts Selects PLM Solutions from IBM and Dassault Systèmes

Speeding time-to-market for innovative yachts with CATIA V5

Paris, France – September 22, 2006 – IBM and Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that Timmerman Yachts, a world leader in the superyachts industry, has selected their Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions to foster collaboration and streamline product development for new motor yachts. “The decision to select the IBM and Dassault Systèmes’PLM solutions for shipbuilding is based on the idea of partnership. We have not just chosen a solution, but a partner which can help us implement a long term global strategy of excellence for our shipyard, with permanent innovation and performance in all domains,” explains Dmitry Mironenkov, Chief Executive Officer, Russia, Timmerman Yachts.

“We need solutions that are up to scratch and allow us to fulfill and exceed our customers’ high expectations. Every yacht we build is unique, but PLM solutions allow us to reuse digital assets and best practices gathered from previous projects, in collaboration with our international partners.” Timmerman is a world leader in the construction of quality displacement motor yachts that are reliable in all sea conditions.

“Working with market leaders such as Timmerman Yachts demonstrates our ongoing success in delivering strategic solutions to yacht companies and proves that our vision for PLM in the yacht industry is the right one,” comments Denis Senpéré, General Manager, PLM North Europe, Dassault Systèmes. Timmerman Yachts was supported by its PLM supplier, Hetnet, a Russian business partner of IBM and DS. New yacht projects benefit from proven solutions and practices developed by Dassault Systèmes in collaboration with market leading customers in the yachting and shipbuilding markets.

CATIA V5 provides a suite of shipbuilding specific applications which integrate design, detailing, visualization, analysis and downstream production information. CATIA significantly decreases the time needed to develop on-board systems, interior designs and to coordinate production. Yachting companies use CATIA V5 advanced digital design applications to develop integrated 3D product models that include all key design and systems disciplines into a single model that supports concurrent engineering and collaboration between design and production teams.

Dassault Systèmes is present at the Monaco Yacht Show, 20 – 23 September 2006, Pavillon français, stand QP68.
