First Game Created with 3DVIA Virtools Released on Xbox LIVE Arcade

Sarbakan Game Studio Builds and Publishes “Lazy Raiders” Using Dassault Systèmes Game Development Engine to Speed Up Development Time

CONCORD, Mass., and QUÉBEC CITY – March 9, 2010 - Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, announced the release of Sarbakan Game Studio’s “Lazy Raiders,” the first Xbox LIVE Arcade (XBLA) game built and published with 3DVIA Virtools. 3DVIA Virtools is Dassault Systèmes’ game engine for rapid prototyping and production.

“Lazy Raiders” is an action/puzzle game in which players assume the role of an explorer hunting for relics in tombs, ships and other ancient structures. Gameplay is unique in that players must move the world, not the character, to avoid danger, collect gold and complete 80 levels.

“Not only is ‘Lazy Raiders’ the first Xbox LIVE Arcade game built with 3DVIA Virtools, but it’s our first as well,” said Réjean Rioux, lead programmer, Sarbakan Game Studio. “We couldn’t be happier about this as we love working with 3DVIA and its game engine technology. 3DVIA Virtools played a crucial role in ‘Lazy Raiders’ development, helping us quickly prototype ideas and shorten our delivery cycle, allowing us to focus on gameplay rather than engine development, resulting in a title about which we are proud and excited.”

3DVIA Virtools is Dassault Systèmes’ development solution for everything from game prototyping to full online, PC, virtual reality and game console deployment. In 2009 Dassault Systèmes added an Xbox 360 solution to 3DVIA Virtools, allowing studios to rapidly develop titles for  Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE Arcade.

“We are honored to have such a progressive and talented partner in Sarbakan,” said Lynne Wilson, CEO, 3DVIA, Dassault Systèmes. “‘Lazy Raiders’ is an example of a creative title that caters to a broad audience, making it the perfect fit for Xbox LIVE Arcade. We are happy that Sarbakan chose 3DVIA Virtools as its comprehensive development engine to achieve quick testing and coding, as well as deployment on its desired platform. This is how game development should be: quick and easy to produce fantastic end results”

Lazy Raiders is currently available for download exclusively on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
