Dassault Systemes welcomes a new Partner into the Software Community Program: Optis, Leader in the colorimetric and photometric simulations

Paris (France), November 5, 2001 – Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announced today that OPTIS has joined the Software Community Program (SCP) as Partner. Through this development partnership OPTIS will develop, market and sell applications based on the V5 architecture to extend the powerful realistic rendering capabilities of CATIA V5 and ENOVIA Portal DMU solutions.
The Optis’ V5 based applications will allow CATIA and ENOVIA Portal DMU V5 customers to simulate all the photometric and colorimetric characteristics of the light on manufactured products of any size, from electronic goods to automotive and airplane. This set of solutions will provide all pertinent light information such as quantity, distribution in 3D space, color, perception and quality. In addition, users will be able to simulate the light reflections, which directly impact the ergonomics of the manufactured product.
DS is strongly committed to provide customers with a complete set of powerful and intuitive solutions to accelerate design review. As part of the DS’ V5 portfolio, Photo Studio and Real-Time Rendering allow users to simply and quickly generate high quality photo-realistic images and animations of parts and products. It contributes to speed-up project validation by enabling any user to produce and share quality representations of their projects. In addition, the DS’ ENOVIA Portal DMU products provide advanced collaborative functions to perform review and simulation of Digital Mock-Up (DMU) using optimum visualization, navigation and communication tools.
The combination of the DS’s and Optis solutions will bring high added value to styling, design and marketing departments specialized in automotive interior lighting, dashboard, electronics systems, GPS, LCD displays, Hi-Fi, mobile phones... by enabling them to create high quality realistic rendering representations of their products for early design validation and consequently to drastically reduce the number of physical prototypes.
“We enjoy this partnership with Optis, which extends the coverage of the 3d PLM realistic rendering solutions. Their applications, by complementing the highly productive V5 photo-realistic functionality and real time quality checker, allow all users, from all industry to simulate pertinent light aspects of their manufacturing products, to increase product performances and innovation.” Said Severin Lanfranchi – Director, R&D ENOVIA Portal - Dassault Systemes
“The V5 architecture is a powerful development platform dedicated to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Developing our application inside the premier 3d PLM software is an exciting project for OPTIS. It enables the interactivity between geometry and light that all designers dream of using: interactivity brings an understanding which is the engine of creativity.” said Jacques Delacour – President -OPTIS
