Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to Accelerate Production of Electric Vehicles in Indonesia
October 26, 2023
- Dassault Systèmes introduces the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to Indonesia’s electric vehicle market to address the country’s vision for sustainable transportation
- EV startup Electrum, Dassault Systèmes’ first EV customer in Indonesia, selected the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as the single technology platform to facilitate the development and industrialization of Electrum’s first series of electric motorcycles
- Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform will provide a single source of truth for communication, collaboration and data continuity, ensuring a seamless end-to-end workflow of the design process
Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) today announced that Electrum, a leading Indonesian electric vehicle (EV) startup, has selected Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to accelerate the design and production of Electrum’s first series of electric motorcycles as the government ramps up efforts to increase adoption of EVs.
Electrum is Dassault Systèmes’ first EV customer in Indonesia. Dassault Systèmes is focused on providing its technological and industry expertise to the EV industry in Indonesia to address the country’s transition to low-carbon, sustainable transport. Nine out of 10 EV startups rely on Dassault Systèmes’ solutions – in particular, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and CATIA applications – for their virtual development.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud provides Electrum with a single, collaborative technology platform that can support the end-to-end process from systems engineering to mechanical and shape engineering, fast-tracking their development and production time. This is done by improving communication, collaboration and data continuity from each stage of the value chain.
“As a lean startup, Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud enables us to improve communication, collaboration and continuity from design to engineering and manufacturing without investing in additional IT resources. With this solution in place, Electrum will be well positioned to meet Indonesia’s ambition of putting two million electric motorcycles on the road by 2025,” said Patrick Adhiatmadja, Managing Director, Electrum. “The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides Electrum with an end-to-end, state-of-the-art solution that enables our teams to innovate and iterate quickly and efficiently.”
“Today, new actors of mobility have to rethink the way they approach design and engineering for electric two-wheelers. There are many considerations for startups like Electrum, from the battery’s shape to the air intake for the cooling system. Through our 3DEXPERIENCE platform and virtual twins, Electrum can simulate scenarios in a virtual world, such as the durability and quality of the battery, before implementation in the real world. Electrum is poised to accelerate innovation and achieve sustainable growth, and business resiliency, through our solutions,” said Josephine Ong, Managing Director, AP SOUTH, Dassault Systèmes.
A new brand of electric motorcycles conceived by PT Energi Kreasi Bersama, Electrum is developing its R&D and engineering capabilities and hopes to complete its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in 2024. Following the recommendation of local Indonesian reseller Nusantara Secom Infotech (NSI), Electrum decided to deploy Dassault Systemes’ “Electro Mobility Accelerator” industry solution experience based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud.
As Indonesia targets achieving zero net emissions by 2060, EV adoption will help the country realize its ambition. Home to 133 million motorcycles, Indonesia aims to put two million electric motorcycles on the road by 2025 as it transitions away from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The government has announced 7 trillion rupiahs (approximately US$460M) in subsidies for electric motorcycle purchases made by the end of 2024 to expedite the mass adoption of emission-free motorcycles.
