Innovation Lab ECCO

The Innovation Lab of renowned Danish brand ECCO Shoes adopted Dassault Systèmes’ cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform with CATIA applications to interpret biomechanical data into geometries for 3D printing customized mid-soles.

The Challenge

Danish footwear producer ECCO and a small team of researchers at ECCO’s Innovation Lab (ILE) in Amsterdam wanted to produce customized footwear providing a unique in-store experience.

We really care about making the most comfortable shoes in the world, the best fitting shoes in the world. And I think with this project we found out that we could just get a step further…

The Solution

The company adopted Dassault Systèmes’ cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform with CATIA applications to interpret biomechanical data into geometries for 3D printing.

For this to work efficiently, our CRM system speaks directly with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and the data is transferred backwards and forwards. CATIA facilitates our input data. So whatever we put in, CATIA will always give us an exact result that we know and trust. So, without the cloud this would not be possible.

The Benefits

In under two hours a fully customized shoe, engineered to a wearer’s specific biomechanical and orthotic parameters based on anatomical scanning and real-time analysis, is finished.
