Learn the technology, build tomorrow
More than 6,000 students, 8 campuses, 3 institutes, over 1,100 teachers, technical and administrative staff, 15 research laboratories, 10 engineering training programs: the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers is THE leading engineering school in France. Founded in 1780, the school wants to be a catalyst for the industry of the future, and commits to training "expert engineers in sustainable technologies", who will be able to tackle the world’s current and future industrial and societal challenges.
Thanks to its unique proximity to industry players and increased international exposure, the school can be proud to provide its students with the pivotal skills that recruiters expect, while remaining at the cutting edge of industry-leading practices and technology.
Virtual universes: a shared technology to build a sustainable world
The value of Arts et Métiers’ research and training programs lies in its partnerships with leading industrial partners, who share the same drive to support collaborative projects that will foster the emergence of new technologies and address the challenges of the industry for today and tomorrow.
Because building a more sustainable world will depend on our ability to innovate, experiment, and test the reliability and performance of our ideas, while controlling their impact. This is what virtual worlds enable: they’re an infinite source of experimentation, and a powerful catalyst for creativity.
Philippe Veron, who’s been a university professor and a teacher-researcher at Arts et Métiers for 25 years, has played a major role in the adoption of these technologies within the school. He was responsible for developing CAD activities, and now teaches design, digital and collaborative engineering and simulation using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Arts et Métiers aims to deploy the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to support its training courses and all relevant disciplines.
3DEXPERIENCE at the heart of teaching methods
Today, the school has massively adopted Dassault Systèmes solutions for students to understand the value of virtual worlds, while providing them with a unique platform to let their imagination run wild. After CATIA V5 and CATIA V6, it's now the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud that's being deployed across the school's eight campuses!
From the design of wind turbine blade multipliers to the creation of a gearbox for hybrid vehicles: projects change every semester, enabling students to develop their skills in various domains. Furthermore, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables end-to-end project management and strengthens collaboration between students and experts using dashboards and project communities.
Subjects also vary in difficulty. In the first year, students work on two types of multidisciplinary projects: from the expression of a need to the preliminary design... then from the preliminary design to the detailed design. In the second year, emphasis is made on the simulation of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems. Whether it's about simulating the design of a crane or an aerial work platform, students are never short on topics!
Each year, such richness in the school's programs enables more than 6,000 engineers to enter the workforce, ready to take up the future challenges of the industry and participate in the design of a bigger-scale project, one that is starting now: building a sustainable world.
