Building a Lean and standardized manufacturing process

As BorgWarner Group’s digitalization pioneer in China, the Dalian Plant has drawn upon the experience of BorgWarner Group in selecting a MOM platform. The collaboration with Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA Apriso is focused on building our Lean business process and establishing a standardized operation for our global manufacturing sites.

Before DELMIA Apriso was rolled out, BorgWarner Dalian Plant had already implemented partial digitalization. However, it was in silos. DELMIA Apriso broke through these silos to form a connected environment with complete closed-loop control from incoming material inspection to material use, manufacturing process, product testing, and warehousing logistics. In the past, all the information was isolated, and engineers often had to spend 4-5 hours to integrate these different data silos. However, through DELMIA Apriso, we can now use data queries to generate comprehensive results in minutes. All material planning staff can view order fulfillment rates through the MOM system, and rapidly make order scheduling adjustments in the process. It eventually helps optimize our production efficiency.

Realizing paperless office operations

After DELMIA Apriso was rolled out, we realized paperless office operations, thus reducing our administrative costs. At the same time, we have also achieved information transparency, making it possible to share and transmit information in a timely manner. For quality assurance we have achieved a more accurate traceability process of single piece and raw materials for parts, which made our quality system more robust and reliable.

The company is now in the transformation stage of Lean improvement. Based on big data collection and analysis, DELMIA Apriso helps us focus more on Lean improvement.

Expanding digital transformation strategy

As for our digitalization strategy, we need to expand our digital transformation to incorporate a comprehensive R&D system, manufacturing process, production sites, and supply chains.This will establish a connected system that encompasses the entire product lifecycle.

As long as we remain focused on the goal of digital transformation, make good use of the existing platform, accumulate the know-how and drive continuous improvement, we will ultimately achieve our long-term strategic objectives.
