Next 100 Years of Innovation
ASKA’s developed the world’s first viable Drive & Fly electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle to move people faster, safer and greener.
Challenge
ASKA, a Silicon Valley-based air mobility company, aims to free people of traffic and provide a better world with high quality of life. ASKA is a real flying car that enables people to move faster, safer and greener with the comfort of door-to-door travel.
Solution
ASKA chose the Reinvent The Sky industry solution experience on Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE® Cloud platform to design and engineer the world’s first viable Drive & Fly electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle.
ASKA is creating the foundation of transportation for the next 100 years, and working here with 3DEXPERIENCE is the key element to solve a real problem of our life.
Benefits
The 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud platform enables ASKA to collaborate across design, stress analysis and system teams. The advantage of building a virtual twin of its vehicle on the platform is quick design and manufacturing of parts to ensure ASKA is ready for full-scale flight testing.

Guy Kaplinsky, Co-Founder and CEO, ASKA:
The challenge of the city living today is the cost of living. We see it everywhere in the world. People want to be closer and to where they're working. If we look about San Francisco today, a one bedroom apartment is about a million dollars. Even here if you go driving around our facility, you see hundreds of RVs parking on the road because people cannot afford to live.

Maki Kaplinsky, Co-Founder and COO/Chair, AKSA:
Something is wrong here and we saw an opportunity. People can move out of the big city, from the dense city, to live in a green environment and raise kids there and enjoy the quality of life there.

Guy Kaplinsky:
Imagine if we can provide you a vehicle that you can move and live in the suburbs but get access to the city within 20-30 minutes where cost of living would be low, quality of life would be high. Would you use that vehicle? ASKA is creating the foundation of transportation for the next 100 years and working here with 3DEXPERIENCE is the key element to solve a real problem in our lives.

Maki Kaplinsky:
ASKA is a drive and fly eVTOL. ASKA can drive on the road like a car, fly very efficiently like an aircraft, can do vertical takeoff and landing as well as conventional takeoff and landing. It can maximize the use of the existing infrastructure that we have today, like parking spaces and charging stations, and it needs to meet all the safety measures and evolving federal regulations. And ASKA will need to pass all the testing and requirements both as a car and as an aircraft. And we chose 3DEXPERIENCE for startups, which is on the cloud platform, for designing and engineering these complicated aircraft.

Guy Kaplinsky:
The collaboration that the 3DEXPERIENCE enables us to do between the design team, the stress analysis team to the system team that’s giving us the opportunity to build a complicated vehicle.
02:15 – 02:22
Maki Kaplinsky:
We will start our full-scale flight testing this year to accelerate this exciting, emerging aviation market.
02:23 – 02:56
Guy Kaplinsky:
The advantage of virtual twins is we can take parts and we can design them and get them into manufacturing in a very quick time. So time to market, time from design, time for a prototype, and time for production that’s what the platform is helping us with. We started the project because we were passionate about how to provide a better world for our next generation.
Focus on ASKA
Founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneurs Guy Kaplinsky and Maki Kaplinsky, ASKA is the first viable electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle where you can drive on the road like a car and take off vertically to fly efficiently like an aircraft. In 2020, the company signed a five-year Space Act Agreement with NASA to advance its participation in NASA’s Advanced Air Mobility National Campaign. ASKA is targeted for commercialization in 2026 subject to certification.
