By 2035, windows will be made of ‘active’ glass, capable of displaying vibrant images. Front windshield navigation system will the next turn as you approach it. Backseat windows will work as connected touch screens capable of storing information and connecting to passengers’ phones.

Over the next 40 years, self-driving cars will develop into cocoon- like private retreats. Unburdened from staring at the road, drivers will relax and use the car as a personalized living room.

SENSORS
Sensors will allow cars to drive and avoid crashes by creating complex maps of the environment around them. Cars will recognise road paths, other cars, pedestrians and even learn the touch and gestures of passengers.

STEERING
By the early 2020s, cars won’t have steering wheels or acceleration. The streets will be full of automatic cars, summoned using smart phones. By 2050 the idea of a driver will be considered old-fashioned.

Cars will be made of a mixture of aluminium, high-strength steel, magnesium and carbon fibre and will be around 100kg lighter than current models. These cars will use less energy, without compromising speed.
