Installing and Uninstalling the 3D XML Player

This task shows you how to install and uninstall the 3D XML Player.

This task has the following sub-tasks:

Important:


  • You must be connected to the internet to perform the online installation
  • If you are connected via a proxy, you must verify that the Internet Options are correctly configured (they are usually not correctly configured if you have never used Internet Explorer)
  • You must have administrator privileges on the machine on which you are installing 3D XML Player
  • The Online Installer will check the level of the video card when you begin the installation
  • The installation prerequisites will be automatically installed for you if necessary when doing an online installation (Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and Microsoft XML parser)
  • Only one type of installation is required (online or manual)
  • The supported levels of Microsoft Office are 2003, 2007 and 2010
  • The supported Microsoft Office applications are PowerPoint and Word

  • If you have, in the following order:


    • installed 3D XML Player

    • then installed 3DLive or CATIA

    • then de-installed the 3DLive or CATIA installed in the previous step

    then you will need to manually register the 3D XML Player by launching the following command with administrator privileges from the installation folder: CAT3DXMLPlayerInstall.exe

Online Installation of the 3D XML Player

This task shows you how to install the 3D XML Player from the 3DS website.

Warning: If you have already installed a previous version of 3D XML Player, you must first remove it before installing the new version (due to a modification of the installation procedure)

  1. Download and execute the 3D XML Player Online Installer from the 3DS website, http://www.3ds.com/products/3dvia/3d-xml/player/usage-overview/index.html.

    The installation is launched and the Welcome dialog box appears. Click Next to continue.

  2. The following dialog box concerns end-user license agreement. If you accept the terms and conditions, click I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then click Next.



  3. The following dialog box concerns installation folder selection. Enter the installation folder path and name and then click Next.



  4. The following dialog box concerns installation confirmation. Click Install to confirm and start the installation.

    The installation begins. A progress bar indicates the progress of the installation process.



  5. When the Installation Complete dialog box appears, indicating that the installation has completed successfully, click Finish to exit the installation process.

    If you selected the option Launch 3D XML Player, the 3D XML Player will be automatically launched in the default browser.

Note: The 3D XML Player installation creates a shortcut on your machine in Start > All Programs > 3D XML Player.

Warning: You cannot install 3DLive and 3D XML Player on the same computer. 3D XML Player will fail to install if 3DLive is already installed as the 3D XML Player capabilities are already included in 3DLive. For the same reason 3DLive will automatically uninstall 3D XML Player before installing itself.
Warning: On a 64-bit OS, you can only install a 3D XML Player 64-bit.

Manual Installation of the 3D XML Player for Massive Deployment (Administrators only)

This task shows you how to install the 3D XML Player for massive deployment.

  1. Get the MSXML 6.0 (32-bit or 64-bit) from the Microsoft website and deploy it.

  2. Get the DSSoftwarePrerequisites (32-bit or 64-bit) from the 3ds website.

  3. Get the 3DXMLPlayer.msi (32-bit or 64-bit) from the 3ds website.

Uninstalling the 3D XML Player

This task shows you how to uninstall the 3D XML Player.

  • Select Start > All Programs > 3D XML Player > Uninstall

    or use the Add Remove Programs command in the Control Panel.
